Roche Bobois Furnishes New Presidential Suite for The Langham, New York

Roche Bobois Suite

The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue debuts the brand new Presidential Suite by Roche Bobois. Featuring luxe interiors by the design house and retailer, Roche Bobois, the 1,900 sq. ft. two bedroom suite on The Langham’s 27th floor also features the ultimate in culinary exclusivity – a Michelin-starred restaurant brought right to your room.

In partnership with The Langham’s award-winning restaurant, Ai Fiori, part of Chef Michael White’s Altamarea Group, guests of the Presidential Suite by Roche Bobois will be able to enjoy all the benefits of dining at Ai Fiori in their suite dining room, as well as access to a private chef service from the Ai Fiori culinary team, and a mini-bar and pantry curated by Chef Michael White himself.

The Presidential Suite by Roche Bobois, Suite 2704, located on the highest floor in the hotel, features two full king sized bedrooms, two full marble-clad bathrooms with generously-proportioned soaking tubs and separate rainfall showers, a spacious living room, dining area that seats up to 8 people and a full kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances by Miele, including a hidden washer/dryer, all off-set by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the most iconic sight in New York City – the Empire State Building and the magnificent skyscrapers surrounding it. Unique to the Presidential Suite, the kitchen is outfitted with flatware by Christofle, and china and glassware by L’Objet, the perfect accompaniment to the exclusive access to Ai Fiori being offered to guests of this suite.

These unique culinary offerings, exclusive to The Presidential Suite by Roche Bobois, created by the team at Ai Fiori are:

  • Michael White’s Kitchen, a curated pantry and mini bar featuring selected snacks, beverages and cooking ingredients chosen by Chef Michael himself
  • Ai Fiori At Your Service, allowing for the full menu from Ai Fiori to be served en-suite by Ai Fiori’s celebrated staff of hospitality professionals
  • Private Chef Experience with a member of the Ai Fiori culinary team preparing meals for the residents of their suite and their guests in a private dinner party format. (Requires 48 hours’ notice.)

Since the physical position of 2704 literally means it’s the top suite in the hotel, the design concept for The Presidential Suite is “elevation”. This floor of the hotel has slightly higher ceilings and, as The Langham’s pinnacle suite, allows for the best view of the skyscrapers surrounding it. The concept of “elevation” translated into the furniture choices as well, with many of the pieces chosen because of their similarities to stealth aircraft, such as the Furtif desk, and with finishes more inclined to be found on a private jet, such as the Colors TV unit constructed of Daquacryl®, a patented resin that is melted onto the structure and then buffed to a sheen. The Aire lamps in the living room also play with the concept of elevation, simultaneously suspended and rising from the floor at the same time.

The famed Roche Bobois trademarks are also integrated throughout the suite – the lush purple Illusion sofa; the mid-century-inspired Echoes armchair; and the iconic Fleur de Fer console table, designed as one-of-a-kind by artist Maurice Barilone. Each room in the suite has a backdrop of vintage smoked mirrors – in the living room behind the wall unit shelving and in each bedroom behind the bed.

In an attempt to artfully integrate form and function, several of the pieces in The Presidential Suite by Roche Bobois serve two purposes – the Rondo lamp on the sideboard in the living room that includes an internal light that can be used to highlight nearby artwork; the Bow Accent tables near both the window seat and living room sofa that can be detached as serving trays; and the Jacques Adenet 1920’s desk lamp which doubles as a decorative architectural sculpture.

As with the previous two Roche Bobois Penthouses, The Presidential Suite by Roche Bobois features Courchevel and Rive Droite beds from the Roche Bobois collection, and each bathroom the transparent Loop chair and Bijoux side table. In both the bathrooms and the bedrooms, the linens – sheets, pillowcases, duvets, towels and face cloths – are imported from Italy by Privilegio Milano, constructed from decadent cotton that feels like silk on the skin.

The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue is centrally located at 400 Fifth Avenue, between 36th & 37th Streets. Its 234 guest rooms and suites are some of the largest in the city. The Langham boasts a residentially-inspired aesthetic, topped off by a multi-million dollar permanent art collection featuring the works of Alex Katz and two luxurious penthouses designed by French retailer Roche Bobois. As of Spring 2017, The Langham features a full-service spa and fitness center, Chuan Body + Soul, offering a comprehensive menu of skincare, massage and body treatments. Ai Fiori, a Michelin-starred restaurant from Michael White’s Altamarea Group, and Bar Fiori, a destination bar and lounge, are both located on the hotel’s second floor. The Langham also has the capabilities to host meetings, events and social gatherings of all sizes in The Gallery at The Langham, a full floor of function space on the hotel’s third floor.
