Originally named The Gurevitch House, the villa was first built in 1913 and is part of Tel Aviv’s UNESCO World Heritage Site for its 4,000 Bauhaus and Eclectic architecture-style buildings. Prior to reopening as The Levee, The Gurvetich House underwent a meticulous restoration and transformation process with Bar Orian Architects, including a complete removal of wall coatings to expose the building’s original cement and features, exposing the wabi sabi-type beauty of Tel Aviv’s historic villas. The Levee symbolizes the past and future of Tel Aviv through its combination of a perfectly restored historic building with the addition of an extended back structure of the building, as well as a rooftop-spanning penthouse with metal grating and 360-panoramic windows that look out into the neighborhood and Tel Aviv cityscape.

Israeli-Belgian designer Yael Siso designed the interior layout of The Levee, coupling the building’s loft-like interiors, untreated cement walls and high-windows and ceilings with European furnishings, warm wooden floors, design-savvy accessories and minimalist lighting schemes. International furniture and design brands fashion the interiors of each apartment at The Levee, including signature pieces from Minotti, Molteni, Cassina, Moroso, Paola Lenti, Baxter, Bonaldo, Moooi, Kristalia, Saba Italia, Linie Design and Nani Marquina.

Hadar Ben Dov, General Manager of The Levee said, “The Levee is a new and much-needed hospitality product in Tel Aviv for travelers looking for a home-away-from-home feel with contemporary and luxurious amenities, and enough space to enjoy with family or friends. With the fully fitted kitchens and spacious living areas, guests will experience true comfort in their own, private oasis, amidst the bustle of the city.”
