The Future of Photography with Emanuele D’Angelo

Emanuele D’Angelo is an Italian photographer who has been immersed in the worlds of celebrity and travel photography his entire career. Having got his start photographing celebrities and A-List events, D’Angelo quickly realized he wanted to follow his passion for traveling. Now, D’Angelo has photographed all over the world from subcultures in the United States to Deserts in the Middle East to challenging terrain in Northern Europe to tropical locations in South America to quaint towns in the Mediterranean to big cities in Asia, photographing the cityscapes as well as the residents and the landscapes.

As the young and passionate travel photographer that he is, D’Angelo is fascinated with new photography technology that may enable him to take difficult-to-capture photographs of dangerous or hard to reach locations and events.

To this point, D’Angelo is a big advocate of drone technology and drone photography. In the recent past, D’Angelo used his drone to take some truly special photos of the unique terrain in Iceland. Over the course of two visits, D’Angelo was able to capture landscapes and ecosystems in the Northern European island that would have been impossible to photograph before the advent of drone technology. Despite the difference in terrain and temperature, D’Angelo also utilized drone technology to help him capture photos of the deserts in the Middle Eastern country of Jordan.

D’Angelo believes that staying ahead of the curve when it comes to new technology enables him to not only photograph places he may never have had access to, but it also helps him separate himself from the pack. Now that industry standard photography technology is more accessible, it is easier for people to follow their passions and become professional photographers if they are so inclined. In addition to the ease of access to photography equipment, the rise of social media has both increased the exposure to photography as well as made anyone with their phone a potential professional photographer.

While D’Angelo, of course, supports the democratization of access to his profession, D’Angelo does need to look out for his well-being and makes sure he secures a living and a niche for himself in the industry.

This is precisely why D’Angelo is doubling down on what he loves, travel photography, as well as utilizing cutting-edge technology to step up his game. Further, D’Angelo is making use of the new social media platforms that support professional (and amateur) photography, like Instagram, in order to grow his audience and engage with them.
